Please take the time to vote today, if you have not already!

    Some helpful tidbits and links:

If you live in Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, or Wyoming, you can register and vote the day of the election.

If you are having trouble with voting, call or visit the Election Protection Coalition:

    * 1-866-Our-Vote (1-866-687-8683)
    * http://www.866ourvote.org

And finally, Google has a great tool for finding your polling place, as well as voter information by state:

    http://maps.google.com/vote

And now, a more personal note. If you are voting in California today, please make sure to vote NO on Proposition 8. This proposition eliminates marriage rights for same sex couples by writing it into the STATE CONSTITUTION. Regardless of your beliefs about marriage, please take a stand against Hate and Discrimination and vote NO ON PROP 8.

We all should have the right to marry the man or woman we love, regardless of ethnicity, economic status, religion, and gender. Let's not let the state take that away from us.

This year has been quite a year for me! Most of it was spent working very hard at the New Century Chamber Orchestra. I now know how to manage a telemarketing campaign, a website re-design, brochure design and mailing, front of house at concerts, a subscription campaign, and press releases. My most recent large project with the NCCO was this year's annual fund mailing, which we sent out yesterday.

This fall, I delved into the world of YouTube. I have several live videos on my channel. Check them out: www.youtube.com/rachelrossos.

I also have a "fan page" on Facebook now. Visit and connect with me.

As of last month, Michael Gallant and I are engaged to be married! He and I just recorded our first track together, which we are giving away as a holiday gift this year. Click here to read our notes on the song and to download it.

Happy holidays! Best wishes to you for a wonderful 2008 filled with beautiful music.

As of the middle of December, I became the new Marketing Director for the New Century Chamber Orchestra. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have one more set of concerts coming up in June. Details and tickets are available on the website: www.ncco.org.

In March and April, my voice was heard as part of the haunting music in the Studio Theatre's production of "The Pillowman" in Washington, D.C.

On May 11th, I will return to NYC for a show at Mo Pitkin's with the talented keyboard player, Michael Gallant. We'll be performing a mix of my originals and his originals, with a few jazz standards thrown in for spice. Tickets are available in advance at www.ticketweb.com.

I have been living in San Francisco for about four months now and I am liking it quite a bit. I have an adorable cat named Eric Clifford Clapton Rossos (it turns out that he is more of a vocalist than a guitar player, but the name still suits him). I found a job as Development Assistant at Boalt Hall School of Law, a part of UC Berkeley. Musically, I have a couple of exciting things coming up:

On Thursday of this week (August 17th), I will be on Access SF TV, which is Cable Channel 29 for all of you in the SF Bay area. The show that I was a guest on will be airing at 8:00 pm.

On Friday of this week (August 18th), I have my second west coast appearance at Encounter Studios. The show starts at about 8:00 pm and I will be on between 8:30 and 9:00 pm.

And lastly, I am having a special August SALE for Rated R - it is available to you for just $7.99 until Labor Day Weekend! CDBaby is running a contest in which the top 100 sellers of the month will be featured on a free CD distributed with the next 5,000 sales. If I can be included on this promotional disc, it will provide valuable exposure for my music. Last year the top seller only sold 30 CDs - which means that your purchase could be the one that puts me on that promotional disc. If there was ever a time to buy Rated R, it is now.

Please click here to purchase your copy of Rated R for only $7.99.

Now that I am finished with school, I have decided to move out to San Francisco. I will be spending the next two months looking for a job out there and wrapping things up in NYC. If you are a New Yorker, my February 17th concert at The Knitting Factory Old Office is most likely the last chance you'll have to see me in a big show before I leave. Never fear, though - I will be back time and again. (:

If you know of any job opportunities in San Francisco in music / entertainment / arts administration / recording / publishing / etc., please email me. Thanks!

Pick up a copy of the January 2006 issue of Keyboard Magazine to read my obituary for Skitch Henderson.

11.2.2005
Skitch Henderson, my boss at The New York Pops and one of the most kind and influential musicians of the last 70 years, passed away yesterday.

Here is an article about Skitch on playbill.com:

    http://www.playbill.com/news/article/96026.html

Thankfully, his death was quick and painless, and it happened while he was home with his family. He was the epitome of living every day to the fullest and we should all aspire to go through life the way he did.

He was a great man and will always be remembered.

9.16.2005
At the end of August, I made my way out west to San Francisco, followed by a wonderful week in Black Rock City, NV, where I played my best show of the summer. This is the first time I've had a chance to update the website since getting back to NYC.

All proceeds from Rated R will be going to the Red Cross until the end of October.

You may notice a smaller amount of shows this fall. I am concentrating on my last semester of school right now, so I probably will not be performing quite as much as I was over the summer. I will be in the studio a lot throughout the next three months, however, so in December I will hopefully have some new songs written & recorded.

Lastly, a story section is coming, but probably not for another month or two.

8.1.2005
I'm making the new version of the site live, even though there are some kinks that still need to be worked out. I've added a few new things, including a gallery page that actually has pictures on it! I will be adding to my stories section sometime this month, with stories in both English and French.

Please be sure to also visit my CD Baby page. They are running a special in which the top sellers of August will be included on a special compilation CD in November. So if you like what you hear, please buy a copy of my CD. If you really like what you hear, please buy a few copies, to sell or give to friends. It's never too early to start Christmas shopping!

7.12.2005
    This page now has all updates from both the music and poetry sections of the website. In a few days, I will launch a new version of this website that is more unified. It is long overdue for some updating. I'm excited... aren't you? (;

3.12.2005
I just revamped the main page a little bit, and put all shows prior to 2005 on their own pages. It's the beginning of a long series of changes I am going to make on the website. Watch for a better & completed site this spring!

I also added a link to Radio Crystal Blue Airplay Vote 2005. If I finish in the top 3, I will get featured on Radio Crystal Blue over the summer. I am in CD Bracket #10. If you have a few seconds, please go to the site to vote for me! You can vote once a day until 4/23/05. Thank you for your support!

10.7.2004
Rated R is finished! The CD is slated to be released on October 15, 2004. Check the main page for details on the NY and NJ release parties! If you'd like to order the CD, please go to the order page.

Don't forget to sign the guestbook before you leave!

8.4.2004
My rachelrossos.com email addresses are down at the moment. If you need to contact me, please use rachelrossos@yahoo.com. Thanks!

7.1.2004
I added a new website to the links page: my purevolume site! Check it out here: www.purevolume.com/rachelrossos. Out of all of my profiles on indie websites, this is my favorite.

I also updated the main page. I added a link to Or Biran's website, added a link for voter registration (if you aren't registered already, go do it!), and updated the gigs list. I've got a show coming up on July 17th in Hightstown, NJ. I will have sampler CDs for sale at the show for $3. Email me at samplers@rachelrossos.com if you cannot attend, but would still like to order a copy.

5.9.2004
I just added the song "Just Play" to the samples section, as well as links to streaming versions of all of my songs. Enjoy, and be sure to share the songs with your friends!

2.13.2004
Two new poems have been added to the recordings section: "s" and "you wanted to know what was inside my head."

1.16.2004
Happy new year everybody! I just updated the gigs page to include a show I will be part of on the 24th of January in Highstown, NJ. If you are in the area, you should stop by - it will be a night filled with talent and good music.
I didn't play the December show because of the snow, but my sister filled in for me by reading my poem "Autumn."
I will have some more sound files and photos on the site soon - keep checking back for more!

11.30.2003
Rachel has won 2nd Honorable Mention in the Carlisle Poetry Contest 2003 for her poem "The Car Game." Yay!

10.31.2003
The recordings page now contains an mp3 of Rachel reciting her poem "something's burning." Take a listen and sign the guestbook with comments!

Two new songs have been added to the "samples" section! "A Look" was recorded a few years ago in the studio of Tom Marolda in NJ (since then he has moved to Las Vegas), and "Song to the Siren" was recorded a couple of weeks ago on my boyfriend's computer. Enjoy! Don't forget to sign the guestbook & let me know what you think of them.

10.28.2003
I just updated the main page to include a coffeehouse that I will be participating in for World Aids Day. If you live in NJ in the Hightstown/Princeton area, I hope you can make it!

10.24.2003
Content added: 29 poems, contact info and mailing list subscription page.

I have updated the gigs page to include all of my summer engagements. I apologize for not having done so earlier - my email inbox got a bit out of hand and I ran out of space.
I would like to request a moment of silence for Elliott Smith, who committed suicide yesterday. We have lost a wonderful, talented musician, and he will be sorely missed.

7.24.2003
The intro page is finally up! Since you are here, then you have probably already seen it. The template for the poetry section is now up also, but no poems just yet. Join my poetry yahoo group if you want to be emailed when it is finished.

I have neglected to add more mp3s because I do not have the space for them. If you know of any good, reliable, AND free server space out there, please let me know by emailing webmaster@rachelrossos.com. Thanks!

Also, let me know what you think of the site so far by signing the guestbook or emailing webmaster@rachelrossos.com.

5.19.2003
I added a few new sites to the links page today. All are very cool. You should check them out.

It is now summer, so I will have more music news very very soon. Keep checking back, especially over the next few months, because I will be posting new tracks and new gigs. Then in August... I'm off to Burning Man!

4.24.2003
My lovely webmaster/site designer, Or Biran, showed me how to update this page today! So this is the first update I'm doing myself.

First, thanks to all who bought the Promo CD. The tracklisting is on the Discography page. Second, I have been working on new material lately. Once summer begins, I'll record a few more demos to put on the site. I'll also begin putting together the songs for my first CD, as yet untitled.

Hopefully within the next two or three weeks, the poetry page and the guestbook will be online. In the meantime, feel free to email me at info@rachelrossos.com.

ps. The New York Pops annual gala is coming up on May 5th (last day of classes, for all you Columbia folks). If you want tickets, make sure to get them soon because this concert always sells out!

2.10.2003
    The website is finally up!

Thank you to everyone who came to my shows this weekend at Postcrypt Coffeehouse and at Low Library! I still have copies of the Promo CD for sale for $3. Email me at promo@rachelrossos.com if you want one.
